Description
Rare Proof 1881 Quarter Eagle
1881 $2 1/2 PCGS Genuine. Given the PCGS number for a Cameo proof, although undesignated as Cameo on the insert. Radiant devices contrast with glassy fields. Boldly struck and attractive. The PCGS code equates to "Filed Rims," but the encapsulation makes the impairment difficult to see. A rare date. Only 51 proofs were struck, in addition to only 640 business strikes.Ex: Nathan M. Kaufman Collection (Rarcoa, 8/1978), lot 706.(Registry values: P4, N4)
