Description
Superb Cameo Proof 1882 Two-and-a-Half
1882 PR 66 Cameo NGC. A rare, low mintage proof striking with only 67 pieces originally struck, out of which perhaps 32 coins may survive today in all grades. Like the gold dollars from this same decade, there are numerous, deceptive prooflike business strikes that have, in the past, been sold as proofs. This is one of the finer examples known of this rare date. The fields are very deeply mirrored and the devices show a significant amount of mint luster. An essentially flawless coin whose rich reddish-orange surfaces have a light haziness.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2885, PCGS# 7908, GSID# 8525)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 4.18 grams
