Description
Shimmering 1883 Quarter Eagle, PR62 Cameo
1883 $2 1/2 PR62 Cameo NGC. The 1 is equally spaced between the bust and border, the 18 nearly touch, and the 3 is slightly closer to the border. Die lines fill the first vertical shield space, and the bottoms of spaces two through four. Most quarter eagles of the 1880s are low mintage issues, such as the 1883, with a business strike production of 1,920 coins and a proof mintage of just 82 more. This wonderful Cameo proof has light yellow surfaces with fully mirrored fields and lustrous devices. There are quite a few tiny abrasions in the obverse and reverse fields, limiting the grade. Census: 2 in 62 Cameo, 15 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P3)
