Near-Gem 1885 Cameo Proof Quarter Eagle

1885 PR 64 Cameo NGC. Although 87 proofs were produced of this year and a considerable number (no more than half) survive, this is an issue that is surprisingly difficult to obtain in better grades. Several pieces entered circulation for a brief time (we handled one recently) and a number of others are obviously abraded. Lightly hairlined, this bright two-toned proof shows a hint of haziness over each side but no contact marks that are worthy of individual mention.
