Description

Intriguing PR58 1887 Quarter Eagle

1887 $2 1/2 PR58 NGC. The proof quarter eagles of 1887 are noteworthy as the second date in the series to sport a triple-digit mintage; only the 1860 issue had reached that level before it. This specimen is exquisitely detailed with amply reflective yellow-gold fields, though the rub on each side goes beyond garden-variety impairment and necessitates the PR58 designation. Still, a thoroughly desirable coin.(Registry values: P3)
