Description

1887 Quarter Eagle, Red-Orange PR58
Lightly Circulated Proof

1887 $2 1/2 PR58 PCGS. This lightly circulated proof quarter eagle was likely spent within a few years of its acquisition, possibly in the bank Panic of 1893. A few ticks and pecks testify to a short spate in circulation, but most of the original proof surface remains amid deep red-orange coloration. This piece, certified in a PCGS green-label holder, will provide an attractive entry point to the proof series. Population: 1 in 58, 15 finer (7/16).
