1888 $2 1/2 PR63 PCGS. The Mint struck 97 proof quarter eagles in 1888, and as few as half of those are believed known today. The certified population totals count some 69 examples (10/14), but this number is believed to include resubmissions. The present coin displays intermingled honey and apricot-gold hues over deeply reflective fields and fully defined design elements. A few minute contact marks limit the grade.
