Description

1898 PR 63. Of the 165 proofs originally struck, it is estimated that today only 55 or so pieces may exist in all grades. A good number of the surviving examples are worn, damaged, or scuffed, rendering the number of high grade and truly collectible pieces even smaller. This is an attractive specimen that has thick, frosted luster on the devices set against the deeply mirrored fields. A few small contact marks and hairlines are noted which limit the grade of this choice proof.
