1899 Liberty Quarter Eagle, PR65
Obvious Cameo Contrast
1899 $2 1/2 PR65 PCGS. CAC. This lovely Gem, housed in a
green-label PCGS holder, has a distinctive blend of yellow haze and
deeper rose iridescence in the fields, with full underlying
mirrors. The devices are crisply defined and lustrous with strong
cameo contrast, although undesignated since this piece was
certified before PCGS began using such notation.With a mintage of 150 pieces and as many as half of those still surviving today, many higher-grade specimens survive, but acquisition opportunities are still infrequently encountered. Population: 9 in 65, 13 finer (2/11).(Registry values: P2)
