Description

1899 Proof Quarter Eagle

1899 PR 62. Cameo. The 1899 proof quarter eagle has a mintage of 150 pieces, and it has been estimated that perhaps as many as 70 proofs may still remain of this popular turn-of-the-century date. Survivors are known in a wide array of conditions from circulated proofs to a superb Proof 67. This is an attractive example (for the grade) that has heavily frosted devices that lend a strong two-toned, white-on-black effect to the coin. There are a few hairlines in the fields, and one tiny scratch to the left of star 9. An affordable example.
