Description
1900 Two and a Half, PR61
Affordable, Entry-Level Example
1900 $2 1/2 PR61 PCGS. CAC. The mintage for this
turn-of-the-century year was 205 pieces. Examples can usually be
located with some searching as an estimated 100 pieces are believed
extant today. But this piece represents an unusual opportunity for
the collector since the coin is in a relatively low grade and thus,
more affordable (compared to other proof gold). The fields are
brightly reflective and the rims squared off. There are, however, a
number of small contact marks on each side and haziness in the
fields, explaining the PR61 grade. A piece worthy of consideration
for the collector wanting an entry-level piece of proof
gold.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288P, PCGS# 7926, GSID# 8579)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 4.18 grams
AGW: 0.12095oz
Mintage: 205
Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
