Description

1900 Quarter Eagle, PR66+ Deep Cameo
Eye-Appealing Proof Type Coin

1900 $2 1/2 PR66+ Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. JD-1, Low R.4. Ex: Simpson. The 1900 is one of the most plentiful proof issues in the Liberty quarter eagle series, popular with type collectors. When found in high grade, this issue can have exceptional eye appeal and technical quality, making such coins captivating to view. Many high-grade pieces known today came from old-time collections, such as that of Virgil Brand, who acquired multiple examples of proof issues in the 1890s and later. The Simpson coin's early provenance is unknown, although the quality of this piece is without doubt superb. Bright yellow-gold surfaces yield sharp, frosty motifs set against orange-peel fields, with no evidence of contact marks or other imperfections. Population: 14 in 66 (3 in 66+) Deep Cameo, 19 finer (11/21). CAC: 6 in 66, 18 finer (12/21).(Registry values: P1)
