    Description

    Stunningly Contrasted 1900 Quarter Eagle
    PR66+ Deep Cameo

1900 $2 1/2 PR66+ Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. This turn-of-the-century gold proof exemplifies the astounding contrast that was lost in the 1902 changeover to a more brilliant all-around format. The reverse has a sizable "rough patch" just above the eagle's right (facing) wing, but the contrast elsewhere on that side and especially on the obverse is remarkable. Deeply reflective yellow-gold mirrors have subtle texture and top-shelf surface preservation. The back side of the holder has a plastic scratch that passes diagonally over the reverse; this should not be interpreted as damage to the specimen. Population: 12 in 66 (1 in 66+) Deep Cameo, 4 finer (9/12).(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 288P, PCGS# 97926)
