Description

Watery Proof 1900 Quarter Eagle

1900 PR 63 ANACS. This popular turn-of-the-century proof issue displays deep, watery surfaces and can also be distinguished by the die file mark extending down from the base of the T in LIBERTY. The number of proofs was increased to 205 pieces in this year and there is a relatively high percentage of survivors. The surfaces here are modestly two-toned beneath reddish patina. A few discreet hairlines are noticed on the reverse, and both sides exhibit several microscopic planchet flakes in the fields.
