Description

1901 Quarter Eagle, PR65 Deep Cameo
Excellent Type Coin Candidate

1901 $2 1/2 JD-1, Low R.4, PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. Brilliant mirroring covers both sides of this stunning Gem proof quarter eagle. A thin abrasion behind the middle fold of the bun is scarcely notable. Yellow-gold devices are free of any striking weakness. The 1900 and 1901 issues represent the peak of the proof Liberty Head quarter eagle series. These two years were the only times that the mintages crested 200 coins, and they are well-known for their abundance of Cameo and Deep or Ultra Cameo examples. Survival rates are high as well, making coins like the present offering the ideal choice for type collectors. PCGS Population: 9 in 65 Deep Cameo, 27 finer (3/26).
