Description
1902 Quarter Eagle, PR62
1902 $2 1/2 PR62 PCGS. Only 193 proofs were struck of the 1902 quarter eagle. If one can estimate survivorship from the number certified (always a tricky proposition), most of those coins are still extant. This coin is typical of proofs struck from 1902-1904; that is, they were produced with no (or little) contrast between the fields and devices. This piece actually does show a faint bit of contrast on the reverse. The surfaces are bright and light hairlines account for the grade.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288S, PCGS# 7928, GSID# 8585)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 4.18 grams
