Description

Choice Proof 1902 Quarter Eagle

1902 PR 64 NGC. First year of the all-brilliant, no-contrast method of striking proofs, this piece shows semi-brilliant devices that shine with almost the same intensity as the surrounding fields. Both sides are layered in a milky green-gold patina, with reddish tinges toward the margins. Hairlines are fairly numerous, but are of minimal distraction. A single alloy spot is located halfway up the eagle's right wing and into the field. One of 193 proofs minted.
