1904 Quarter Eagle, Low-Mintage PR62
Just 170 Pieces Struck
1904 $2 1/2 PR62 NGC. Just 170 quarter eagle proofs were
produced in 1904, a number slightly less than the usual gold proof
mintages of the decade, but a truly tiny number in the context of
most 20th and 21st century proof production now available to
collectors. This example displays attractive medium-gold color and
deeply mirrored surfaces tempered by cloudiness in the fields
surrounding the central devices, the result of scattered
microscopic lines and tiny marks. Still, an attractive, fully
struck proof with light frost on the crisp devices. Census: 5 in
