    Description

    PR66 Cameo 1904 Quarter Eagle
    Intensely Contrasted Surfaces

1904 $2 1/2 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The mintages of proof Liberty Head quarter eagles actually declined as the series crept to its end in 1907, the zenith having been reached during the 1900-1901 centennial observances. The year 1904 saw 170 proof quarter eagles coined, although clearly more survive in high grade than issues from earlier decades. The contrast on this Premium Gem proof seems to verge on the Deep Cameo level. The marvelous, intense reddish-orange coloration over mostly unperturbed surfaces, save for a small patch of marks in the right reverse field, adds to the exceptional eye appeal. Population: 5 in 66 Cameo, 1 finer (11/11).(Registry values: P1)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288U, PCGS# 87930)

    Weight: 4.18 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
