Excellent Type Candidate
1905 $2 1/2 PR63 NGC. CAC. This Select proof 1905 Liberty
quarter eagle is an excellent choice for a proof gold type set,
featuring fully mirrored yellow-gold surfaces with bold devices.
Faint field-to-device contrast is evident, although not sufficient
for a Cameo designation. Perhaps 65 to 70 proofs survive from the
144-coin mintage, far lower than the NGC and PCGS total population
of 270 pieces. Census: 21 in 63, 47 finer. CAC: 2 in 63, 11 finer
