Description
1905 Quarter Eagle, Slightly Contrasted PR64
1905 $2 1/2 PR64 PCGS. The 1905 had a lower mintage of 144 proofs, and probably no more than 75-85 individual pieces are extant today. This date is usually not seen with cameo contrast, as with most post-1901 dates. However, this coin displays slight contrast on each side. Apparently there is not enough to persuade PCGS to designate it as a Cameo coin, but knowing it is slightly contrasted gives the collector added value in this near-Gem proof. The yellow-gold surfaces have just the slightest overlay of reddish patina, and there are no obvious or mentionable contact marks on either side. Population: 22 in 64, 30 finer (5/12).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 288V, PCGS# 7931, GSID# 8594)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 4.18 grams
AGW: 0.12095oz
