Description

1905 Quarter Eagle, PR67
Modest Field-Motif Contrast

1905 $2 1/2 PR67 PCGS. CAC. This Superb Gem is among the finest 1905 proof quarter eagles at PCGS on grounds of numeric grade, although that service lists a trio of Cameos and three more Deep Cameos also in PR67 that many collectors will consider finer (11/17). Among non-Cameo coins, this piece has four PR67s (one in PR67 ★ ) and a PR68 for rivalry at NGC, but it is arguably finer visually than most of those. Fully struck devices complement glimmering fields and virtually undisturbed surfaces. The reverse alone would qualify for a Cameo designation, although the obverse less contrasted. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer. CAC: 4 in 67, 0 finer (11/17).(Registry values: P1)
