1906 $2 1/2 PR64 PCGS. Readily available for the type in proof format, this 1906 Choice proof is one of 160 pieces struck. Production quality was high at the Mint and some proofs (such as this one) show substantial contrast between the mirrored fields and frosted central devices. Vibrant orange-gold color adds to the outstanding eye appeal. John Dannreuther notes that during this period, Virgil Brand typically purchased ten extra proof quarter eagles to supplement his yearly gold proof set purchase.
