Description

1909 1C PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. While far less rare than its counterpart with the VDB initials, the 1909 proof cents is nonetheless cherished by collectors for its first-year status. One obverse die was carried over from the 1909 VDB issue, and this example is the second obverse die, not a reuse. A couple of tiny die lines from the top of the L in LIBERTY mark this one. This piece has the sharp detail and squared-off rims diagnostic if the issue, with much red remaining. Population: 75 in 65 Red and Brown, 25 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N991)
