Description

Attractive PR65 Red 1915 Cent

1915 1C PR65 Red NGC. Only 15% of the mintage of 1,150 proof 1915 cents is known today with full Red color. Undoubtedly this is because the coins were wrapped in tissue paper at the Mint, and the sulphur in the paper caused the coins to tone. This piece has lovely red surfaces, and the only variation is seen on the right side of the obverse, where slight iridescence is noted. A few flecks of carbon keep this lovely piece from an even higher grade. Census: 5 in 65 Red, 0 finer (1/09).(Registry values: N2998)
