Description

1916 Lincoln Cent, PR64 Brown
Fully Struck and Well-Preserved

1916 1C PR64 Brown PCGS. CAC. This was the final date for matte proof Lincoln cents, and had the smallest mintage among all eight matte proof issues, at a mere 1,050 pieces. The razor-sharp strike definition is startling to see, under low magnification, as the more minute details of Lincoln's beard and hair detail become clearly evident. Deep lavender-brown toning is uniformly distributed across the obverse, while the reverse displays a more variegated pattern of reddish-brown, lavender, and streaks of light golden-tan patina. The surfaces are clean and mark-free on both sides of this appealing near-Gem proof cent. Population: 17 in 64 Brown, 19 finer (6/14).(Registry values: N991)
