Description

1941 Lincoln Cent, PR67 Red
Tied for the Finest at PCGS

1941 1C PR67 Red PCGS. CAC. A minuscule diagonal die line slants down through the top of the 1 and upper curve of the 9. While PCGS has certified nearly 2,000 proof 1941 Lincoln cents, just seven of those grade PR67 Red, and none are finer (3/16). On the other coast, NGC has certified nearly 1,100 of these, and they have never assigned a higher grade. This piece is also tied for the finest PCGS proof from all the 1936 to 1942 proof issues. It is an excellent type candidate to represent the pre-WWII brilliant proofs. As expected, the strike is exquisite. The fields are deeply mirrored and nicely frame the reflective devices. A trivial toning spot appears on the fiery orange obverse, with no spots on the similar fiery reverse.(Registry values: N991)
