Description

1942 Lincoln Cent, PR67 Red Cameo
Tied for Finest Certified

1942 1C PR67 Red Cameo PCGS. The economic stresses of World War II caused the Philadelphia Mint to cancel its commercial proof offering after 1942, but a relatively generous mintage of 32,6500 proof Lincoln cents was produced before the program was discontinued. Examples with Cameo surfaces are rare, due to the all-brilliant finish used on proofs of this era.

The present coin is a magnificent Superb Gem, with razor-sharp definition on all design elements and deeply mirrored fields that contrast boldly with the frosty devices to create a dramatic cameo effect. The original red surfaces are impeccably preserved and overall visual appeal is terrific. Population: 4 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (4/17).(Registry values: P1)
