Description
Breathtaking 1956 Cent
PR68 Deep Cameo
1956 1C PR68 Deep Cameo PCGS. The mintage of 1956 proof
cents (669,384 pieces) was increased significantly over that of
previous years. Consequently, proof cents in all grades are readily
available. Cameos are more elusive, however, especially Deep/Ultra
Cameos in the higher grades. PCGS and NGC have certified about 100
Gem and finer Deep/Ultra examples. The satiny motifs of this PR68 Deep Cameo appear to float over deep watery fields. Indeed, both sides yield an orange-gold-on-black appearance from several angles. An attentive strike sharpens the design elements, and close inspection reveals no mentionable flaws. In short, this is a breathtaking coin with superior technical quality and aesthetic appeal. Population: 6 in 68 Deep Cameo, 0 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P1)
