Not Sold Description
Specimen Strike 1964 Lincoln Cent
1964 Specimen MS 65 Red NGC. A most extraordinary coin and one piece from only twenty sets believed to have been struck for presentation purposes in 1964. Apparently only issued as complete sets, this single piece is undoubtedly from a broken set, perhaps from the same one the half dollar came from sold by Superior a few months ago. The surfaces are quite unlike a regular, mirror-like proof. They have a satiny texture and most closely resemble the satin proofs from 1936. A few specks of carbon are seen on the obverse, apparently the remains of a fingerprint. ANACS has authenticated several of these pieces and this is the third certified by NGC (10/95), with one in 64 and another in 66.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22LS, PCGS# 3404, GSID# 2610)
