Description

1936 Mercury Dime, Top-Grade PR68
Extravagant Rainbow Toning
A Condition Census Registry Coin

1936 10C PR68 NGC. The 1936 is the scarcest proof Mercury dime in high grade, coming from a mintage of only 4,130 coins. It is also the only proof issue that is a true "stopper" at the PR68 level. We have previously handled only four different pieces in this grade, which is most of the coins known so fine. Including a Star-designated coin, NGC has seen only three pieces this fine, and PCGS reports another three; neither grading service has seen a finer example (11/18).

For the Registry Set collector, this beautifully toned top-grade coin is an essential acquisition. Including a full strike, this Superb Gem's eye appeal encompasses glassy fields and virtually flawless preservation, all cast in beautiful multicolor toning on the reverse and dusky amber and lilac toning on the obverse. A delightful coin in all respects.(Registry values: N4719)
