    Description

    PR64 Cameo 1878 2nd Reverse Morgan Dollar

1878 7TF $1 Reverse of 1878 PR64 Cameo NGC. Ex: BRS Legacy Collection. Only 200 proofs were struck of the Second Reverse subtype, or as Breen called it, the Seven Tail Feathers, Parallel Arrow Feathers subvariety. Only the 1878 Third Reverse (at 50 pieces) has a lower proof mintage, if the controversial 1921 Zerbe and Chapman proofs are excluded. While the proof Second Reverse will never be as costly as the proof-only 1895, it is more rare, since 880 pieces were struck for the latter. This razor-sharp near-Gem has beautiful golden-brown and sky-blue peripheral patina, with additional glimpses of plum-purple about the reverse margin. The centers are only faintly toned, which makes the frost on the devices all the more noticeable. A splendid example of this desirable rarity.(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 2573, PCGS# 87312)

If my clients were to auction something of significance, having Mike as the auctioneer would be a deal maker as far as I am concerned.
