Cameo PR67 1881 Morgan
A Dazzling, Strongly Contrasted Dollar
1881 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. Excellent strike and eye appeal for
this popular issue, with a small proof mintage of 984 pieces. For
some unknown reason there seem to be a comparatively high number of
1881 proof dollars that have survived. However, at the PR67 Cameo
level there are precious few. Delicate champagne and gold
peripheral patina is seen on each side. The mirrored fields shine
brightly and show deep reflectivity and the frosted devices on the
central devices, giving the coin a strong cameo effect. Only one
die pair is known to have been used on proofs of this year. Census:
