Description

Cameo PR67 1881 Morgan
A Dazzling, Strongly Contrasted Dollar

1881 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. Excellent strike and eye appeal for this popular issue, with a small proof mintage of 984 pieces. For some unknown reason there seem to be a comparatively high number of 1881 proof dollars that have survived. However, at the PR67 Cameo level there are precious few. Delicate champagne and gold peripheral patina is seen on each side. The mirrored fields shine brightly and show deep reflectivity and the frosted devices on the central devices, giving the coin a strong cameo effect. Only one die pair is known to have been used on proofs of this year. Census: 12 in 67 Cameo, 8 finer (1/10).(Registry values: N4719)
