    Description

    Stunning 1891 Dollar, PR67 Cameo

1891 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. The 1891 proof Morgan dollar saw a mintage of 650 pieces, among the lowest production of the series. Despite the relatively low mintage, a fairly large number of examples have survived; even Cameo can be located with patience, except for those in the highest numerical grades. Only 13 Superb Gem Cameos, for example, have been seen by NGC and PCGS combined, with a mere three finer (5/08).
Delicate cobalt-blue, purple, golden-brown, and yellow-green toning concentrates at the margins of this PR67 Cameo, more extensively on the obverse. The design elements display somewhat better than average definition than is typically seen on proof dollars of this date, including relatively strong detail on the eagle's breast feathers. Minor softness is noted in the hair over Liberty's ear, however. Overall, a stunning proof that is impeccably preserved.(Registry values: N4719)
