Description

1892 Morgan Dollar, PR65 Cameo
Almost Brilliant and Starkly Contrasted

1892 $1 PR65 Cameo NGC. In spite of the large proof mintage of 1,245 pieces, there are surprisingly few high-grade examples known of the 1892 dollar. Apparently attrition took a heavy toll with many non-collectors spending these pieces in later years. Population data bears out this assertion with 21 circulated proofs certified by both grading services. This is a starkly contrasted proof that is essentially untoned. The central high-point definition is just a tad weak, as usually found on this date. Census: 14 in 65 Cameo, 46 finer (8/10).
