1899 Silver Dollar, PR67
Colorful Deep Original Toning
1899 $1 PR67 PCGS. Viewed at an advantageous angle,
intermingled areas of violet, blue, and peach-gold toning grace
this richly patinated Superb Gem proof. Pristine fields are
glassy-smooth and deeply reflective, surrounding toned central
devices that are pinpoint sharp in all regards. Rainbow bands of
color spotlight the eagle and frame variegated areas on the
reverse, which shares many of the same hues that embellish the
obverse, albeit less flamboyantly. PCGS reports three finer 1899
proofs, although it is doubtful any of those exceed the spectacular
eye appeal of this coin. Population: 10 in 67, 3 finer
