Magnificent PR68 Cameo 1899 Morgan Dollar
1899 $1 PR68 Cameo NGC. An untoned Superb Gem whose luminous devices contrast favorably with the darkly mirrored fields. Post-strike contact is virtually absent, limited to a couple of nearly imperceptible lines on the right obverse field. The strike is full, even on such trouble spots as the hair above the ear, the breast feathers, the claws, and the leaves opposite the wreath bow. A scant 846 proofs were struck, a lower mintage than the famous proof 1895. A remarkable 19th century proof type coin that would be the highlight of many an advanced collection. Census: 8 in 68 Cameo, 1 finer (11/09).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27ZX, PCGS# 87334, GSID# 7854)
