    Description

    1843 Seated Liberty Dime, PR64
Only One Finer Coin at PCGS

1843 10C PR64 PCGS. CAC. The Philadelphia Mint did not begin its program of commercial proof set offerings until 1858, 15 years after this delightful proof Seated Liberty dime was struck. No records were kept of the pre-1858 proof mintages, but the totals were always extremely limited. Only 8-12 examples of this issue survive today in all grades.
The present coin is a charming Choice example, with deeply mirrored fields and razor-sharp definition on the design elements. The pleasing surfaces are toned in shades of silver-gray, golden-brown, and cerulean-blue, with terrific eye appeal. We believe this coin is the same one offered in our Exclusively Internet Auction of January 2001, then graded PR64 NGC. The coin realized $11,700. Population: 1 in 64, 1 finer (12/12). (NGC ID# 28XF, PCGS# 4730)

    Weight: 2.67 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
