Description
1850 PR66 Seated Dime
A Newly Discovered Example
Only the Seventh Confirmed Proof
1850 10C PR66 PCGS. This proof 1850 dime is curiously
similar in appearance to the 1850 half dime in this auction. Both
pieces show heavy diagonal Mint-made striations in the fields on
each side. The fields glow brightly from the striations, so much so
that the moderately frosted devices appear contrasted, even through
the significant layers of toning present. Sea-green and mild rose
appears over each side but shows differing toning patterns on
obverse and reverse.Population Data (7/14): PCGS has only certified two proof 1850 dimes. NGC has graded four pieces, one numerically finer than this coin, the PR67 ★ Kaufman coin.
