    1855 Arrows Dime, PR64 Cameo
    Important Proof Rarity

1855 10C Arrows, F-101, R.7, PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The proof 1855 Seated dime is a known rarity, but the number of surviving examples may actually be lower than generally thought. The PCGS estimate is 15 to 20 coins, a figure which is supported by the combined PCGS and NGC certified population of 31 submissions in all grades. In practice, however, this issue proves more elusive than is suggested by these figures. We have offered an example on 31 different occasions since our records began in 1993, but with only 12 individual coins represented. A 13th piece resides in the Smithsonian. Even if a few others are hidden somewhere, this proof Seated dime issue is a major rarity, with the total population likely residing near the low end of the PCGS estimate of 15 to 20 coins.

This piece is fully struck, with delightfully bright mirroring in the fields. Tinges of peripheral blue accent champagne interiors, delivering a high degree of eye appeal for the grade. Close study with a glass reveals faint marks in the mirrors, but none are discernible to the naked eye. The attractive toning pattern will have to suffice for pedigree purposes. Population: 2 in 64 Cameo, 0 finer (12/15).
