PR64+ Cameo 1856 Dime
Unknown Tiny Proof Mintage

1856 10C PR64+ Cameo NGC. CAC. Breen-3295, Greer-105. Doubled Die Obverse. The proof 1856 dime mintage is unknown, but NGC has certified 24 pieces in all grades, likely including a number of resubmissions over the past quarter century. All were struck from the same doubled obverse die, according to Walter Breen. The doubling is plainly visible on the LIBERTY, the shield stripes, ribbon, drapery folds and left (facing) hand. This is a flashy and fully struck example with frosty motifs and only a whisper of almond-gold toning.
