Attractive Gem Proof 1858 Dime

1858 10C PR65 NGC. The year 1858 was the first in which the Mint sold proof coins to the general public. There are no recorded mintage figures, but the Guide Book estimates 300+ pieces, less than half the 1859 proof production. This flashy representative exhibits peripheral golden-brown and navy-blue toning. The obverse displays cameo contrast. A few wispy field hairlines are apparent upon magnification.
