Description

1859 Seated Dime, PR66 Cameo
Spectacular Multicolor Toning

1859 10C PR66 Cameo NGC. The Mint's first commercial proof coin offering in 1858 was a big success. Accordingly, a substantial mintage of 800 proof Seated Liberty dimes was accomplished in 1859, but it is doubtful that all these coins were distributed. The present coin is a spectacular Premium Gem, with frosty design elements, deeply mirrored fields, and intense cameo contrast. The peripheries are toned in vivid shades of golden-brown and cobalt-blue. Census: 4 in 66 Cameo, 6 finer (11/12).(Registry values: N4719)
