Description

1859 Seated Dime, PR68 Ultra Cameo
None Certified Finer

1859 10C PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC. The proof 1859 Seated dime is a genuinely rare issue, as many of the 800 coins originally produced were melted as unsold at year's end. Heritage Auctions has been privileged to offer several examples over the years, but none have possessed the technical merits and eye appeal of the present Superb Gem. The deeply mirrored fields and razor-sharp design elements leave no doubt about this coin's proof status. In contrast, the devices are richly frosted, producing a dramatic came effect. All areas present an essentially untoned appearance with only the slightest hint of golden color at the borders. Census: 1 in 68 Ultra Cameo, 0 finer (8/12).
Ex: Pittsburgh ANA (Heritage, 8/2004), lot 352.
