Description
1859 Transitional Dime, Judd-233
Choice Proof
1859 10C Transitional, Judd-233, Pollock-280, High R.6, PR64
Cameo NGC. A mule of the obsolete obverse and the new "cereal
wreath" reverse. The pairing omits UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Technically a pattern, but long collected as part of the Seated
dime series, and listed as such in the Guide Book. The
present fully struck specimen displays peripheral golden-brown,
cherry-red, and cobalt-blue patina. Diagonal field striations are
as made. NGC has certified just 14 pieces in all grades.
Presumably, some of those represent duplicate submissions, since
USPatterns.com notes, "fewer than two dozen are known."(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23CH, PCGS# 4749, Greysheet# 4217)
