Description

1861 Dime, Strongly Contrasted PR65 Cameo
Light Marginal Toning

1861 10C PR65 Cameo NGC. Even though 1,000 proof dimes were struck in 1861, it is estimated that as many as 600 pieces were melted as unsold or entered circulation. This sharply contrasted proof is mostly brilliant with just a hint of golden peripheral color. Cameo examples of the 1861 dime are notably scarce with this the only PR65 at NGC and a mere four examples finer (6/14).(Registry values: P1)
