Description

1863 Dime, Sharp PR65 Deep Cameo
Rare So Boldly Contrasted

1863 10C PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. F-101, R.4. The 1863 circulation-strike dime is well-known as an elusive issue, although its proof counterpart is comparably scarce in high grade. PCGS has certified only eight Deep Cameo representatives, including four in PR65 and four finer (11/15). This near-brilliant Gem might have garnered an even finer grade were it not for a few faint lines in the right obverse field. The design elements are needle-sharp and thickly frosted, starkly contrasting with the mercurylike liquidity of the fields. The occasional hint of light golden toning is mentioned for accuracy.(Registry values: N1793)
