    Description

    1863 Seated Dime, PR68 ★ Cameo
    Visually As-Struck

1863 10C PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. F-101, R.4. Just 460 proof dimes were coined between March 5 and May 26, 1863. These were minted in three different groups during that period. Survivors get progressively rarer above PR63 and a minority show cameo contrast. This example is the single finest proof known, being the only Cameo among four PR68 coins at NGC. The finest proofs at PCGS are a pair of PR67s, designated Cameo and Deep Cameo (10/17).

Amazingly high-quality, the surfaces are fully brilliant and yield exceptional white-on-black contrast from deeply mirrored fields and frosty devices. In fact, this is a borderline Ultra Cameo Proof example, and it should prove to be highly desirable to prospective bidders.
    Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2005), lot 6247.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 23BS, PCGS# 84756)

    Weight: 2.49 grams
