Description

Brilliant MS66 Cameo 1864 Dime

1864 10C PR66 Cameo PCGS. An important Civil War date with a low mintage for both business strikes and proofs. Only 11,000 coins were struck for circulation purposes, and 470 proofs were produced. Undoubtedly because of the low production run of proofs, a higher percentage of the remaining population show some degree of contrast. This is a brilliant coin that has strong contrast between the deeply reflective fields and the frosted devices. Essentially defect-free except for a couple of squiggly lint marks that were struck into the obverse at the time of manufacture. Population: 5 in 66 Cameo, 2 finer (8/07).
