Description

1867 10C Repunched Date, F-103, R.5, PR66 PCGS. CAC. Although proofs are perhaps more obtainable in than the 1867 business strikes, they are rare in high grades as confirmed by the population data. This deeply mirrored example shows considerable field / device contrast, although slightly limited by the attractive coppery-gold and cerulean-blue patina that covers both sides. The strike is razor-sharp throughout. The 18 and 7 in the date are repunched matching the Fortin diagnostics for the proof dies. Tied for finest at PCGS. Population: 5 in 66, 0 finer. CAC: 5 in 66, 0 finer (4/18).
